  • write down all the reasons you want to quit
  • set a date
  • tell your friends and family about quitting
  • talk to your healthcare provider about quitting
  • get rid of ashtrays, lighters, tobacco products, etc
  • think about what triggers you to use tobacco products, and find ways to cope with cravings
    • try removing yourself from the environment if possible, perhaps go for a walk
    • drink a glass of water
    • listen to your favorite song
    • try deep breathing exercises or meditation
  • get social support
    • surround yourself with people who support your decision to quit
      • remember that someone can verbally support your decision but their actions may not and it is okay to remove yourself from them temporarily for your healthTobaccoQuitline_Slideshow
